The publication, Philip Taaffe. 35 Years of Paintings, is released by Rafael Jablonka in cooperation with Buchhandlung Walther König.
The book discusses almost 50 paintings from the artist’s entire career, beginning with the Martyr Group from 1983, through key works such as Quadro Vesuviano, We Are Not Afraid, Il Terrazzo, Artificial Paradise, in which he includes multiple ornamental inspirations drawn from the world of nature, palaeontology and travels. Each work is presented with an essay by one of the prominent authors as Kay Heymer, Charles Stein and Enrique Juncosa, who also in preface introduces us to these reflections on artist’s work. Additionally, there are plenty of reproductions aimed at presenting rich references and Taaffe’s specific dialogue with the other artists.
